1898-12-07 (100lbs) Alf Rosser w rsc 17 (20) Jim Exall, New Adelphi Club, The Strand, London, England. Referee: Eugene Corri. Made at 100lbs, by the end of the 11th Exall (99) appeared to have a commanding lead after cleverly outboxing Rosser (100). Realising he was way behind as Exall continued to pick up the points, Rosser went all out for a kayo win when punching his rival all over the ring in the 15th and 16th before pressing even more in the 17th. Having left his corner with renewed vigour, Rosser was soon battering away at Exall before dropping him. When Exall got up it could be seen that he was done for. Rosser did not need any advice on the subject, hammering the former all along the ropes until the referee called him off on the 1.15 mark.

On winning, Rosser claimed the English title at the weight but had soon moved on.
