1899-01-17 (120/122/124lbs) George Dixon w co 10 (25) Young Pluto, Lenox AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny White. Billed for the world 122lbs title and also involving the 120lb and 124lb versions of the championship, the bout went on at catchweights. Knocked down in the tenth, Pluto (123) was finished off by Dixon (119) in the same round with another big left to the body and counted out on the 1.30 mark.

On 14 July, Dixon met Eddie Santry (w pts 6 at the Star Theatre, Chicago, Illinois) at 122lbs before taking on the same man over 20 rounds at 128lbs on 11 August.
