1899-03-13 (135lbs) [[Spike Sullivan]] w rtd 22 (25) [[Jack Waldron]], Greenwood AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Alec Brown. Made at 135lbs with both inside, Sullivan successfully defended his claim at the weight after Waldron had collapsed to the floor in the 22nd round after coming out of a clinch and his corner had thrown in the towel. For 15 rounds it had been anyone’s fight, with both men hurting each other, but from there on Sullivan came on the stronger and almost had Waldron out in the 20th before the final exchange.
