1899-05-23 (138lbs) Kid McPartland w pts 25 Spike Sullivan, Lenox AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Charlie White. Billed for the American 138lbs title, McPartland bested Sullivan at every part of the game, dealing out severe punishment in doing so. Sullivan was cut to shreds by McPartland’s superb left hand, and after trying unsuccessfully to claim a foul in the tenth round he continued to be on the end of hurtful punches to the final bell despite hitting back hard himself at times.
