1899-06-02 (124lbs) George Dixon w pts 25 Joe Bernstein, Broadway AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny White. Articled at 124lbs, despite a lack of title billing this one still carried Dixon’s claim at the weight. Anxious to get going, Dixon was soon into action regardless that he was giving away five pounds to Bernstein. A cut over the left eye in the third round hampered Dixon’s progress for a short while, but when back in the swing of things Bernstein found himself boxing in rearguard fashion through to the final bell.
