1899-06-02 (124lbs) George Dixon w pts 25 Joe Bernstein, Broadway AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny White. Articled at 124lbs but with no title billing, this one still carried Dixon’s claim at the weight and he was soon into action despite giving away five pounds to Bernstein. A cut over the left eye in the third round hampered Dixon’s progress for a short while, but he was soon back in the swing of things and Bernstein found himself boxing in rearguard fashion through to the final bell.
