3 June (110lbs) Patsy Donovan w pts 20 Casper Leon, Greenwood AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Sam Austin. According to the St Louis Post-Dispatch, in what was generally considered to have been an extremely poor decision Donovan defeated Leon for the vacant American 110lbs title in this one. The majority of ringsiders felt that Leon had edged virtually every round with a masterclass of defensive boxing mixed with aggression. While the Brooklyn Herald reported that the contest was made at 112lbs, it was not even reported in the New York Herald and Donovan was soon fighting at a higher weight.
