1899-06-23 (115lbs) Clarence Forbes drew 12 Casper Leon, West End Club, St Louis, Missouri, USA. Referee: Joe Stewart. Made at 115lbs, Leon (118), who came in three pounds over the weight, looked to be much fitter than in their previous scrap, his injured ankle having responded well to treatment. This time round it was Leon who made the running, scoring well with both hands and generally being more active in the opening six rounds. The seventh saw Forbes cut over the right eye, but while it gave him problems it did not stop him from speeding up. Although it was a spirited last session from Forbes, the referee could not split them.

Following the contest, Forbes was claiming both the American 112 and 115lb titles.
