1899-08-11 (128lbs) George Dixon drew 20 Eddie Santry, Broadway AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny White. With the articles of Agreement calling for both men to be inside 127lbs, this one was assumed to have been a defence of Dixon’s 128lbs title claim. Closely contested, Santry’s advantage in height and reach held him in good stead, while Dixon was occasionally wild, often overreaching himself, and the decision seemed a fair one.
