1899-10-28 Frank Childs w co 3 (6) Klondike, Athletic Association Gym, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Referee: Joe Choynski. Childs, who was superior in every way to his rival, took over Klondike's ‘black’ title claim when a left uppercut dropped the latter like a log to be counted out at 60 seconds of the third round. Prior to that, Childs had controlled the fight, avoided Klondike’s rushes and scored with heavy blows to the body.

With both fighters’ title claims at stake, Childs drew over six rounds with George Byers at the Star AC, Chicago on 16 March 1900.
