1899-11-06 (146lbs) Pat Daly w pts 15 Tom Woodley, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Although there was no title billing attached, Daly (145) claimed the English 146lbs title following his win over Woodley (146). Reported to be a bout full of give and take it was relatively even up until the ninth when Woodley was dropped to his knees by a left to the ribs and on getting up was cautioned for going down again without being hit. Subsequently, although Daly slipped down in the 12th, followed by them both falling together in the same round, he had the edge, his skill and trickiness ultimately winning him the day over the game Woodley.
