1899-11-20 (128lbs) Jabez White w co 8 (15) Harry Greenfield, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Bernard J. Angle. Billed for the English 128lbs title, White (127) was soon putting the straight left on his rival’s face and following a rush in the opening session Greenfield (128) found himself on his knees. Having been warned for holding in the third, Greenfield pulled himself together to match White in the next couple of rounds before the latter’s left hand continually found his face again. Both men mixed up punches in the eighth, but when Greenfield suddenly tired White stepped in with a left to the body and the Londoner went to the floor face forward to be counted out. Following the fight, White was generally recognised as champion at the weight.
