24 November (106lbs) Matt Precious w rsc 20 Jim Lee, Gymnastic Club, Stalybridge, England. Referee: George Dunning. Billed for the English 106lbs title, £100 a side and a £60 purse, it was very even up until the 17th round despite being contested on hard lines. At that point it could be seen that Lee was tiring and after being smashed to the floor by a punch to the jaw he was saved by the bell before coming out for the 18th and being put under intense pressure. With both eyes almost closed, Lee was attacked unmercifully by Precious and when left in a defenceless state on the ropes halfway through the 20th the referee awarded the contest to the latter, who was almost unmarked.
