1899-11-24 (106lbs) Matt Precious w rsc 20 Jim Lee, Gymnastic Club, Stalybridge, England. Referee: George Dunning. Billed for the English 106lbs title, £100-a-side and a £60 purse, it was very even up until the 17th round despite being contested on hard lines. At that point it could be seen that Lee was tiring, and after being smashed to the floor by a punch to the jaw he was saved by the bell before coming out for the 18th. With both eyes almost closed, and having been attacked unmercifully by Precious, Lee was left in a defenceless state on the ropes halfway through the 20th. At that juncture, the referee awarded the contest to Precious, who was almost unmarked.
