1899-12-21 (133lbs) Spike Sullivan w co 20 (20) Martin Flaherty, Manhattan AC, Troy, New York, USA. This was yet another successful defence of his 133lbs title claim for Sullivan, who knocked out Flaherty at 2.40 of the 20th round after both men had handed out plenty of punishment in what was a relatively even contest prior to the finish. Sullivan’s main offensive came when landing repeatedly to the ribs.
