1900-01-29 (138lbs) Eddie Connolly drew 25 Wilmington Jack Daly, Olympic Club, Buffalo, New York, USA. Made at 138lbs, this would be the last time Connolly would defend his claim at that weight before moving up to 140lbs. Both men started cautiously, with Daly blocking cleverly, but by the 15th round Connolly was working his man over in the clinches and cutting him up. The pair then took turns in forcing the contest and at its conclusion a draw appeared to be a fair result.
