1900-02-01 (124lbs) [[Terry McGovern]] w rsc 5 (6) [[Eddie Santry]], Tattersall’s, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Referee: George Siler. McGovern was far too strong for the clever Santry and following a heavy body assault a terrific left-right to the jaw floored the latter in the penultimate round. Although Santry, who was also down in the second and fourth sessions, just about made it to his feet the referee still stopped it. Despite it being just a Chicago six rounder made at 124lbs, by his inside-the-distance victory McGovern took over Santry’s claim at the weight.
