1900-02-05 (124lbs) Kid Broad drew 20 Eddie Lenny, Hercules AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny Eckhardt. Articled at 124lbs, although inside 121lbs Broad’s claim at the weight was obviously at risk in this one and he went all out to preserve it, making the pace from beginning to end. Whilst Broad was the harder puncher of the two, Lenny showed a great defence and staved him off time and again with stiff left jabs and excellent footwork. As far as the Brooklyn Eagle reporter was concerned Lenny should have received the decision over the badly battered Broad, who finished up with virtually no vision.
