1900-02-12 (130lbs) Loudon Campbell drew 14 (20) Larry Burns, Manhattan AC, Troy, New York, USA. Halted six rounds earlier than scheduled by police interference, this was a defence of Campbell’s 130lbs title claim. The finish came after what had been a tame affair, mainly due in part to the police presence, when Campbell landed with a solid straight left that sent Burns staggering around the ring in some disarray. However, before Campbell could move in to finish the job, the referee stopped it in his favour after the policeman in charge signalled that he had seen enough.
