1900-03-19 (154lbs) Dido Plumb w co 8 (15) Australian Jim Ryan, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Billed for the Imperial British Empire and world 154lbs title in six-ounce gloves, it was Plumb (153) who showed up better than Ryan (153¾) throughout, his left-hand leads continually opening the latter up. Several times Ryan was told to stop holding and hitting as he looked to gain an advantage, and by the seventh he had fallen behind due to the better work of the Englishman. The eighth round proved to be the last as Ryan, in taking the fight to Plumb, was put down twice by heavy rights to the jaw before being counted out on the second occasion.
