1900-06-07 (138lbs) Wilmington Jack Daly w pts 25 Kid McPartland, Union AC, Waterbury, Connecticut, USA. Billed for the American 138lbs championship, Daly regained his old title claim when outfighting McPartland from start to finish and settled it when having his man groggy in the final session.

However, Daly soon lost his right to be called a champion following his next two contests, both at 135lbs, against New York Jack O’Brien (drew 20 at the Auditorium, Waterbury on 26 October 1900) and Joe Gans (l disq 5 on 13 February 1901 at the Music Hall, Baltimore, Maryland).
