1900-06-12 (128lbs) Terry McGovern w co 3 (25) Tommy White, Coney Island AC, Brooklyn, NYC, New York, USA. Referee: Johnny White. Stated in the Mirror of Life and Sportsman to have been made at 128lbs, with White half a pound over the weight paying forfeit, some American newspapers reported it to have been made at 122lbs and that both men were over the limit. Regardless of that, White was not around for long and having dropped down in the first round to avoid being hit he was floored twice in the second before being counted out in the third after being smashed to the floor a further seven times.

On 23 June, in a short-distance fight at Tattersall’s Arena, Chicago, Illinois, McGovern met George Dixon, winning on points over six rounds. Prior to the contest McGovern stated that he was giving Dixon a chance to win the title, but with no weights available one can assume that Dixon was inside 126/128lbs.
