1900-08-09 (138lbs) George Elbows McFadden w rtd 16 (25) Kid McPartland, Broadway AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Made at 138lbs, McFadden gave McPartland a sound drubbing, especially to the body, and after the latter had been floored twice in the 16th his seconds, throwing up the sponge, jumped into the ring so that they could attend to him.

On his victory, McFadden claimed the American title at the weight prior to meeting Patsy Sweeney (drew15 on 19 December at the La Fayette Rooms, Boston, Massachusetts) at 135lbs, and Dal Hawkins (w disq 7 on 28 February 1901 at the Mechanics’ Pavilion, San Francisco, California) and Martin Flaherty (w rsc 3 on 9 May 1901 at the National AC, Jarques Auditorium, Waterbury, Connecticut) at 133lbs.
