1900-08-09 (138lbs) George Elbows McFadden w rtd 16 (25) Kid McPartland, Broadway AC, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA. Made at 138lbs, McFadden gave McPartland a sound drubbing, especially to the body, and after the latter had been floored twice in the 16th his seconds, throwing up the sponge, jumped into the ring so that they could attend to him.

On his victory, McFadden claimed the American title at the weight prior to meeting Patsy Sweeney (drew 15 at the La Fayette Rooms, Boston, Massachusetts on 19 December) at 135lbs, and Dal Hawkins (w disq 7 at the Mechanics’ Pavilion, San Francisco, California on 28 February 1901) and Martin Flaherty (w rsc 3 at the National AC, Jarques Auditorium, Waterbury, Connecticut on 9 May 1901) at 133lbs.
