1900-09-21 (115lbs) Johnny Reagan drew 20 George Monroe, Union AC, Waterbury, Connecticut, USA. Referee: Dick Howell. Reported to be a defence of Reagan’s 115lbs title claim, the fight turned out to be a classic between two very skilful and aggressive little battlers. It was virtually tit-for-tat all the way, with neither man giving an inch, and a draw was the only result acceptable as far as the crowd were concerned.

Following the contest Monroe was also laying claim to the American 115lbs title, while, despite virtually remaining inactive throughout 1901, Reagan continued to see himself as the best man at the weight.
