1900-10-01 (134lbs) Tom Dixon w rsc 7 (15) Jim Barry, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Made at 134lbs, with Barry making the running and Dixon countering it was fairly even up until the sixth when the former’s lack of condition began to tell against him. In that session Dixon, confining his attention to Barry’s ribs, had his man on his knees and almost out before finishing the job in the seventh. Having been forced around the ring by a succession of left jabs, Barry fell to the floor following a blow on the mark and the fight was stopped in Dixon’s favour. Although no championship billing was given, following his win Dixon claimed the English title at the weight.
