1900-11-02 (126lbs) Terry McGovern w rsc 7 (25) Joe Bernstein, Nonpareil AC, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Referee: George Siler. Billed as a fight for the world title at 126lbs, the public accepting the fact that McGovern was hiking up his championship claim to suit his growing frame, both men made the weight with Bernstein claiming to be 125lbs. Bernstein did well to make it to the seventh, but in that round he was knocked down repeatedly before being rescued by the referee after a right hook to the jaw had smashed him to the floor yet again.
