1900-11-26 (124lbs) Harry Mansfield w rtd 10 (15) Harry Chamberlain, NSC, Covent Garden London, England. Made at 124lbs, the contest scarcely realised expectations and was ragged throughout and of the little clean hitting that took place was in favour of Mansfield (124). It became clear in the second third of the scrap that Chamberlain (124) was possibly overtrained as he lacked his normal dash and began to look very tired. Despite that, however, Chamberlain staggered Mansfield with a right in the eighth, but was unable to follow up and at the start of the tenth, looking extremely weary, he advanced to the centre of the ring holding his hand out in token of defeat. In the aftermath, Mansfield claimed the English title at the weight and challenged all England but was never really recognised.
