1901-02-06 (106lbs) Jim Fay w pts 15 Ernie Brady, Mafeking Gym, Leicester, England. Billed for the English 106lbs title, the fact that it was contested over two-minute rounds ruled it out as a championship fight in the eyes of the purists. As early as the end of the first round Fay had got a good lead due to solid blows delivered from either hand, and he continued to add to that as the bout proceeded. Although Brady came back into it during the middle rounds he could never do enough to be able to close the gap, the decision in Fay’s favour being a formality.
