1901-02-18 (112lbs) Ike Cohen w disq 4 (15) Ernie Brady, Wonderland, Mile End, London, England
18 February (112lbs) Ike Cohen w disq 4 (15) Ernie Brady, Wonderland, Mile End, London, England. Referee: Sam Jacobs. Billed for the English 112lbs title, the bout went on at catchweights after Brady (115) came in over the weight. Both men started cagily before Cohen (111½), who had already claimed the championship by forfeit, broke the ice when knocking Brady down in the fourth round. On getting up fairly quickly Brady tore into Cohen, the latter having to show good skills to avoid the onslaught. Still not letting up, Brady eventually pulled Cohen down to the floor with him and after striking his man repeatedly the referee had no option but to disqualify him.
Cohen never defended his claim as such and other men who challenged all England at 112lbs title included Bill Fielder and Albert Gould (April 1902), Buck Shine (who outpointed Ginger Owen over ten rounds to win a championship competition at the Drill Hall, Brynmawa, Wales on 25 August 1902), Jim Kenrick (26 August 1902), and Dave Morbin and Jack Walker (January 1903).
