2 April (116lbs) Harry Forbes w rtd 15 (20) Casper Leon, Phoenix AC, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Referee: Doc Hottum. In a return contest billed for the American 116lbs championship, both boys opened up remarkably fast before infighting became the main feature of the night. By the third round Forbes was walloping in lefts and rights and although Leon showed great defensive qualities, from the ninth onwards the latter was forced on the defensive. While Leon held up well for a few rounds, in the 14th Forbes was raining in blows from head to body and after a short right to the jaw sent the Sicilian to his knees in the 15th it was obvious that the end was near. After getting to his feet at ‘eight’, dazed and staggering, Leon was finally pulled out when his corner threw up the towel just as Forbes was racing in for the finish. Following this, Leon had just five more contests before calling it a day.
