1901-09-20 (133lbs) Joe Gans w disq 12 (20) Steve Crosby, Eureka AC, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: George Mantz. A return bout for the 133lbs black title, having been even during the opening six rounds, the champion began to open up with heavy punches that had had Crosby holding on for dear life. By the 12th Gans was in total command and after knocking Crosby down, the latter came back fighting foul before the police intervened. With a decision required, the referee disqualified Crosby.
