Made at 124lbs, although it was a slugging match from the tenth round onwards, with Rice doing especially well in the 13th, there were surprisingly no knockdowns. On winning, Rice took over Callahan’s 124lbs American title claim, thus adding to his claim at 122lbs, but he was soon fighting at a higher weight.
