1902-02-14 (128lbs) Harry Lyons w pts 20 Jack Lowery, Eureka AC, Germania Maennerchor Hall, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: George Mantz. Lyons’ 128lbs American title claim was at risk when the men failed to move the bar, and he was forced to fight all the way to preserve it. The taller man by far, Lyons used the left effectively throughout but both men were fighting hard and Lowery was always dangerous, despite being smashed to the floor in the 16th and saved by the bell. Amazingly, Lowery came back strongly in the 17th right through to the final bell and it was Lyons who was the wearier at the end.
