1902-04-24 (122lbs) Benny Yanger w rsc 19 (15) Abe Attell, West End Coliseum, St Louis, Missouri, USA. Referee: George Siler. Billed for the 122lbs title, the bout was slated for 15 rounds with a further five to be boxed if the referee was unable to make a decision. The 15th came and went, and after Attell had been knocked down three times by Yanger in the 19th the police asked the referee to stop the fight just when the former was coming back hard.

When Yanger, who struggled to make the weight, stated that he was unable to make 122lbs anymore, the title became vacant yet again.
