1902-05-09 (128lbs) Harry Lyons drew 20 Joe Bernstein, Eureka AC, Germania Maennerchor Hall, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: Jack McDonald. Yet another fight to have involved Lyons’ 128lbs American title claim, before taking place it was agreed that if both men were still standing at the end of 20 rounds it should be declared a draw. Bernstein was reported to have done all the leading, often hitting Lyons at will, while the latter was content to fight defensively throughout.

Lyons appears to have had just two more outings at a higher weight during the next two years before retiring. A few days earlier, the Sporting Life reported that Lyons, who was claiming the American 128lbs title and had an outstanding record, had challenged Jack Roberts, Ben Jordan and Will Curley to decide the world title at the weight.

Meanwhile, in England, Sid Scales challenged all England at the weight on 27 May, Curley preferred.
