1902-05-12 (108lbs) Owen Moran w pts 10 Jim Kenrick, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Made at 108lbs and contested under the new ruling at the club that all bouts would be scheduled for ten rounds or under, Moran (108) and Kenrick (105) put on a tremendous display of boxing. With both men proving to be very smart there were no knockdowns, but the audience would have enjoyed what they saw. There was plenty of hard punching on both sides, especially in the art of countering, and it was possibly Moran’s extra reach that saw the verdict go his way.

Moran laid claim to the title and was joined by Digger Stanley in June, but he was soon fighting in a higher weight class.
