1902-06-21 (144lbs) Eddie Connolly w pts 15 Pat Daly, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Billed for the world 144lbs title, neither man held back and following some good fighting both hit the floor in the third round, Connolly for the second time. However, it was Connolly who showed up the better as the fight progressed, having Daly groggy on more than one occasion, and in the eighth the latter twice visited the floor. Although Daly was put on the floor twice in the tenth he was still strong and looked none the worse for wear. The last five sessions were of an excellent nature and at times Daly gave as good as he got, but at the final bell it was Connolly’s cleverer work that entitled him to the verdict.
