1902-07-21 (132lbs) Harry Mansfield w pts 15 Ivor Thomas, Ivor Arms Public House, Pontypridd, Wales. Billed for the English 132lbs title, with the contest going the full distance at no time did Thomas look a likely winner, being outpointed in every round by Mansfield who was trained to the minute. Although Thomas at times looked as though he would not last the distance he gamely struggled on to great applause, possibly without even winning a round.

Despite the contest being over two-minute rounds, Mansfield claimed the title but was not generally recognised outside of Bristol and the surrounding countryside.
