1902-10-20 (124lbs) Ben Jordan w co 5 (15) Jack Roberts, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Although billed for the world and English 124lbs titles, many still felt that this contest would also settle the 126lbs championship. While Roberts (124) came out with a rush, Jordan (123) quickly got down to business with solid blows to head and body hurting the Drury Lane lad, who went back to his corner with a damaged left eye. The next three sessions saw Jordan impose his authority upon Roberts, especially with body blows, and in the fifth he battered the latter’s defences down before dropping him for the full count following a pile-driving left under the heart.
