1902-11-12 (115lbs) Tommy Feltz w rtd 7 (20) Jimmy Devine, Eutaw AC, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. With Feltz due to defend his 115lbs title claim against Tommy Love, when the latter was injured Devine stepped in as a substitute. Although Devine, who was Love’s trainer, looked heavier both men were stated to be inside 115lbs. Surprisingly, the substitute did reasonably well until Feltz got on top in the seventh to force a retirement after heavy lefts and rights had floored him.

Following the contest Feltz moved up in class, leaving the way clear for Harry Forbes to consolidate his far stronger title claim.
