1902-11-20 (140lbs) Jim Maloney w pts 20 Bobby Dobbs, National AC, Marylebone, London, England. Referee: Professor Murray. Given world championship billing at 140bs, Dobbs (139), who was announced as the champion, started the better and had Maloney (139¾) over in the fourth round following a solid left uppercut to the jaw. In spite going over again in that session, Maloney paid Dobbs back in the fifth when a swinging right to the chin had the latter over. At this stage of the fight Maloney was improving and after having Dobbs on the floor in the tenth he was generally on top from thereon, the unanimous decision in his favour being a formality.
