1902-12-26 (130lbs) Dick Lee w pts 20 Billy Barrett, Dale Street Gymnastic Club, Liverpool, England. Referee: Tom Gamble. Contested at 130lbs, for the opening six rounds Lee had difficulty in keeping Barrett from working well on the inside despite having a good reach advantage over the American. Gradually, however, Lee settled down, punishing Barrett severely to the head, and at the halfway mark he was well ahead. From thereon it was almost one-way traffic as Barrett weakened and hung on for all his worth, while Lee was content to box his way to the points win. Regardless of there being no title billing Lee had a fair claim to the English title at the weight following his victory, but failed to consolidate.
