1902-12-29 (110lbs) Owen Moran w co 2 (20) Jack Morris, Christian Street Gymnastic Club, Liverpool, England. Although not billed as a title bout, with both men inside 110lbs Moran’s win gained him a good claim to the English championship at that weight in the eyes of his supporters, and he immediately challenged the world before moving up in weight. The contest had started promisingly, with both boys having some success. It was a different matter in the second round, however. Picking up the pace, after Moran let go with a left to the jaw despite Morris holding on tight he was brushed aside before taking the full count.
