1903-02-19 (106lbs) Frank Morcombe w pts 15 Patsy Haley, Coronation Gym, Liverpool, England. Referee: F. Stinton. Made at the 106lbs limit, although there was no championship billing on the night later reports stated that the English title at the weight was involved. Both men made a quick start, Morcombe concentrating on smart headwork while Stockton’s Haley looked to get inside to work on the body, and by the halfway mark the Londoner had established a good lead due to his clever work. Although Haley gave it his best shot, trying to crowd his man out of it, Morcombe continued to go clear on points due to his landing the better quality punches with the knuckle part of the glove.

The next men to challenge all England for the title were Johnny Hughes and Jack Guyon (February), Billy Johnson (April), Ginger Owen (October), Ernie Godwin (November) and Dave Job (January 1904), but nothing really came off.
