2 March (110lbs) Digger Stanley w pts 12 Jack Walker, Wonderland, Mile End, London, England. Referee: Fred Wallings. Billed for the world and English 110lb titles, the loser maintained that despite it being contested over three-minute rounds it was not over a recognised championship distance and the titles were invalidated. Boxing cleverly, Stanley (110) made a good start, putting in the left jab and moving back as Walker (109) came on to the counters. Walker seemed to carry the heavier punch but had difficulty landing in the early stages, apart from a few instances, including the sixth round when a solid straight left smashed Stanley halfway across the ring. As the fight wore on Walker began to get his punches off to better effect and the last three sessions saw him catching Stanley with hurtful blows to head and body, but the latter took it all as he joined the battle. Both men were going hammer and tongs at the final bell and despite Walker getting the better of it he was still a long way short of taking the decision.
