1903-04-23 (110lbs) Jack Walker w rsc 10 (15) James Freeman, New Adelphi Club, The Strand, London, England
23 April (110lbs) Jack Walker w rsc 10 (15) James Freeman, New Adelphi Club, The Strand, London, England. Referee: Robert Watson. Billed for the English 110lbs bantamweight championship, it was a ding-dong battle throughout and Wimbledon’s Freeman (106) surprised many, especially when he dropped Walker (109) in the fifth following a cracking left to the head. The sixth took on the same pattern before Walker gained a bit of an advantage in the seventh. Then, in the eighth, punches from head to body had Walker looking a beaten man, only for him to come back strongly to drop Freeman prior to the bell. The ninth saw some vicious fighting from both men, but with Freeman’s left eye badly damaged Walker went up a notch in the tenth and after dropping his game opponent heavily the referee had seen enough, humanely stopping the fight. Walker was soon fighting at 112lbs, thus discarding his 110lbs title claim.
