1903-04-27 (145lbs) Rube Ferns w rsc 19 (20) Matty Matthews, International AC, Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. Ferns once again laid claim to the ‘white’ welterweight title following his victory at 145lbs. It was Ferns all the way, with Matthews going down 16 times and taking plenty of punishment before the referee pulled him out in the 19th round after he had injured his leg in a tumble.
