Line 1: Line 1:
1903-05-25 (112lbs) [[Owen Moran]] w pts 15 [[Jack Walker]], NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Articled for the English 112lbs title, Moran (112) and Walker (111½) put on a rousing show of skill and hard punching as both men strove for victory. It was always close and although Moran dropped Walker in the eighth with an accidental low blow the latter came back strongly in the ninth as if nothing had happened. At this stage, Walker was proving to be the stronger man but in the 11th he was careless and nearly paid for it as Moran chased him around the ring after landing heavily. With both fighters tiring rapidly, the last three sessions saw Moran go back to his boxing, using the left jab well, and while Walker never gave up he probably lost the contest in that period.
