1903-08-31 (116lbs) [[Harry Ware]] w disq 10 (15) [[Andrew Tokell]], Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Referee: Billy Bell. Billed for the English 116lbs title, in what was a very tough fight Tokell (114) made all of the early running. He was still going strong in the seventh round despite the fact that he was not only been cut over the left eye but his right eye was three parts closed as well. However, Tokell was not going to let that stop him, and in the ninth he had Ware over twice and staggering around when the bell came to his rescue. Unfortunately for Tokell, after dropping Ware twice in the tenth he was disqualified for hitting the latter when he was still on the floor.
